If you’ve never felt any Friday the 13th scaries before, well, right now feels like as good as any time to start. With COVID-19 cases surging in various parts of the country and world and climate change wreaking havoc in myriad ways, among other pressing issues, it might well feel extra-terrifying to see that ominous date on the calendar. Well, here’s a plot twist: Through an astrological lens, at least, this Friday the 13th–August 13, 2021–doesn’t pose any especially scary energy or reasons to fear bad luck commonly associated with the date.
That said, “there is an energetic flavor to tomorrow’s astrology that could advise us to be prepared for adjustments to karmic imbalances we are currently experiencing,” says Maria Sofia Marmanides, tarot-card reader and astrologer.
“We start the day with the moon in Libra, which inherently calls our attention to our relationships with other people–whether it’s friends, family, partners or co-workers–and considering if we are having our needs equally met,” says Marmanides. Additionally, two quincunx aspects–which refer to zodiac signs and planets they travel in that have nothing to do with each other, but occur in the same transits, often resulting in tension–that are happening may lead to feelings of frustration.
“We have Mars in a quincunx with Saturn and Venus in a quincunx with Jupiter,” she says. Right now, these planets are moving in a way that makes them not visible to one another, and not staying in their own proverbial lane, which she says might lead you to feel pulled in different directions on Friday the 13th.
“With the Mars-Saturn dynamic, you could feel unable to make a decision on how to move forward with your plans, a pull between stopping and going, and you could end up channeling that frustration in the wrong direction.” –Maria Sofia Marmanides, astrologer
“With the Mars-Saturn dynamic, you could feel unable to make a decision on how to move forward with your plans, a pull between stopping and going, and you could end up channeling that frustration in the wrong direction,” she says. “With Venus and Jupiter, we could also feel like we are giving more than we are getting back and wondering if we need to pull back our efforts.”
The moon will also change signs from Libra into Scorpio, but before it does, it will have an opposition to Jupiter, which is asking us to consider excess. “As the moon moves, we may feel more naturally feel self-protective and suspicious of other people’s motives.”
This increased introspection and self-protection, which may show up similarly to a self-audit, may lead us to consider how other people play into our lives. It’s not reflective of superstitious energy, per se, but with the quincunx and lunar energy in mind this Friday the 13th, do be wary of what’s happening in your life and not take anyone’s word at face value.
