The Brand That Had a 2,000-Person Waitlist for Its Dry Shampoo Just Launched a New Body Wash and Lotion
If you’re “in the know” on the haircare scene, you definitely know Verb. The buzzy brand has made waves in beauty circles, all thanks to its impressive, affordable shampoos, conditioners, and styling treatments. From its dry shampoo that garnered a waitlist of 2,000+ ahead of its launch, to its phantom-like Ghost oil that’s virtually weightless, Verb hair products are beloved for good reason.
Now, the brand is expanding outside of its haircare comfort zone and into new territory. Today, Verb launched two new items in its first-ever body care line: a Body Wash ($18) and a Body Lotion ($18). Both are just as good as its hair-centric predecessors.
Why the expansion? Claire Moses, a founding member of the brand, says it’s always been part of the plan. Verb has spent over a decade nailing its haircare line, prioritizing salon-quality products at a fraction of the price. (Fun fact: all of Verb’s regular-sized products are $18.)
“From a product development perspective, it’s really been about making sure that our products speak to that everyday client [who’s] looking to make their hair look and feel better without spending a ton of time or money on their haircare routine,” says Moses. “We’ve always wanted to expand outside of haircare, but we had a lot of holes to fill first.”
Moses explains that, with everything the brand does, the expansion was intentional. Deciding on body care opposed to, say, skin care or nail care, felt like a natural next step for the brand in creating a holistic routine, or a “wellness strategy around the client’s experience.”
“When we wanted to venture into the body care space, there was this combination of creating something that felt very us, but also creating something that everyone was using that we could elevate,” Moses says. “The body wash and the body lotion are like our ‘back to basics’… while giving you the best formula you can get with those two products.”
As for the wash and lotion themselves, they’re just as effective as the rest of Verb’s products. The body wash is the definition of refreshing, featuring a gel-to-foam formula that’s clean and simple. There are no exfoliants, and no overpowering scents–it’s a gentle body cleanser infused with skin-saving ingredients, like moringa oil and aloe, so it nourishes the skin while you wash. The fact that it smells ever-so-slightly like fresh grapefruit doesn’t hurt either.
The body lotion is equally effortless. While other creams can get greasy and heavy, Verb’s formula feels like next to nothing once it’s on your skin (kind of like the lotion version of the brand’s signature line of Ghost products). It’s unscented and loaded with feel-good ingredients–like moringa oil, coconut oil, and argan oil–that maximize moisture. (Pro tip: Moses says to cocktail a few drops of the brand’s Moringa + Jojoba Treatment Oil ($18) into the lotion for a boost of hydration on extra dry places, like elbows and knees.)
All in all, this body care duo is a no-brainer to add to your routine. It’s packed with the clean, natural ingredients you know and love from its haircare line, all at an affordable price. In the meantime, keep an eye out for more from Verb–it doesn’t look like the brand is stopping at shampoo and body lotion.
“You’ll start to see a lot more of us in the general wellness [space] which I’m really thrilled about,” says Moses. “There’s a specific love for creating products for our clients and giving them the things they can use every single day.”
